Getting Started

(OPTIONAL). The 'Message Collection Folders' are folders on your filesystem (or network) which will contain HL7 data files. The FSPM will scan all of these folders for HL7 data files and will move ALL of them to the Central Distribution Folder for processing. You can add as many message collection folders as you like. Note the following:

•	All files must have the same file extension as defined with the central distribution folder.

•	Zero (0) byte files and files less than 3 seconds old are ignored.

•	HL7 message data files can contain any number of HL7 messages.

Select the Central Distribution Folder in the main window. The central distribution folder is the FSPM's main processing folder. All HL7 message data files that are detected in this folder are processed and the HL7 messages that they contain are compared against the matching instructions configured for each of your Message Destinations. If a match is found the HL7 message is delivered to that matching message destination folder. If the matching destination is a 'Rubbish Bin', that particular message is processed no further. If a file cannot be analyzed for some reason (i.e. it contains no HL7 messages or is corrupt) it is placed into a sub-folder called PM-ErrorFiles.

Any HL7 messages which match NONE of your destination matching instructions will be saved into individual files in a sub-folder called PM-Undeliverable.

After all messages in a file are dispatched (either to a Message Destination or to the PM-Undeliverable folder) the data file is DELETED.

Your Message Destinations basically consist of a Windows Path to a folder on the filesystem or network AND a set of 'matching instructions' (which tells the FSPM which messages to place in the destination folder) AND (optionally) a set of 'transformation instructions' (which can contain instructions on changes to the message which you would like the FSPM to make before delivering it).
