When a Router Profile sends an HL7 message, it first has to validate whether what it is sending is actually a valid, syntactically correct HL7 message. It does this using an EasyHL7 vendor definition. The vendor definition contains basic structure information about a particular Version of HL7 including any 'Vendor Specific' peculiarities (like user-defined Z segments) or quirks which might be specific to a particular 'vendor' (i.e. computer system or company, lab, etc).
