You build your search criteria in 3 Steps
Step 1: Select the HL7 Version / Vendor definition the search engine should use. Usually the Default vendor definitions will suffice just select the correct HL7 version. Note that you can use an HL7 version 2.3 vendor definition to search in messages that are actually HL7 version 2.4 or 2.2 or 2.3.1 etc. You just want to make sure that the definition you select has all of the HL7 segments / fields you wish to include in your search.
Step 2: Select which HL7 segment and field you wish to search. Clicking on a segment in the Message Segments list will automatically populate the Segment Fields list.
Step 3: Select a Field Component, an operator, and enter a value (if required).
