25 December 2020. Version 4.1 released.
Version 4 is an enhancement release and integrated some tweaks to the HL7 Document Templates including adding the Ellipsis formatting attribute.
9 March 2020. Version 4.0 released.
Version 4 is a major version release and marks a complete overhaul of the UltraPort HL7 Notepad's internal message handling, viewing, and reporting with the introduction of HTML View, a new way to look at your HL7 messages versus the Classic View. There has also been a complete overhaul of the HL7 Reports.
Since it began the UltraPort HL7 Notepad has used a WYSIWYG editable, syntax highlighting viewport and has always compared favorably with any other commercially available HL7 editor with similar price points. However, there have always been some negative performance related to this view. It has always been notoriously slow in rendering very large HL7 messages (messages with 500 segments or more) for editing. This slow rendering actually becomes virtually unusable with a message load time of 1-4 minutes.
Now, with version 4 we have introduced a new default viewport, HTML View. In HTML View the messages are displayed in an internal web-browser in a HTML representation. This has the benefit of being able to load, render and display very large HL7 messages an order of magnitude faster than Classic View (our testing loads a HL7 message with over 2000 segments in 1 second or less). Every data field now has hover tooltips showing the segment and field name, number, description and instance (for repeating fields). One downside is that with HTML view we lose inline-editing (the HTML viewport is read-only) BUT every datafield is now a hyperlink which allows you to click it and be taken immediately into the graphical editing window to edit the message data zeroed in on the clicked field (See Editing Message Data).
All of the classic syntax highlighting options remain in the Program Settings PLUS several new and exciting options available ONLY for HTML View. These include:
•Undefined segment / field color (default is RED) will show you graphically in the view if a segment or field within a segment which contains data is not defined in the HL7 version you have selected. •Custom field highlighting color (default is YELLOW). Allows you to select multiple fields which you would like "highlighted" whenever a HL7 message is loaded into the viewport. This is turned ON by default with the Message Control ID (MSH.10) and the Patient Name (PID.5) selected just to show you the functionality. Turn this on and off, add or remove highlighted fields, etc in the Program Settings. •Template View! This one is very exciting. If you create (or have created) a HTML HL7 Document Template (See HL7 Documents) you can enable Template View and the viewport will display your rendered HL7 report INSTEAD of the raw HL7 message with the option to toggle back and forth.

14 June 2016. Version 3.0 released.
Version 3 is a major version release and marks the first release of the UltraPort HL7 Notepad in a native Microsoft Windows 64-Bit installation.
9 October 2015. Patch Release Version 2.0.7 released.
Version 2.0.7 is a "patch" release of the HL7 Notepad which includes very minor enhancements requested by customers relating to the new HL7 Documents functionality. All enhancements were related to the handling of embedded text reports display and formatting in document HTML templates. This release corresponds to an identical patch release of the UltraPort HL7 Postmaster which serves as the "Document Batch Publisher" Service and uses the same HL7 Documents modules as the UltraPort HL7 Notepad.
21 September 2015. Version 2.0 released.
Version 2 of the HL7 Notepad represents an absolutely massive effort by our developers which has been in development for over 2 years here at HermeTech. It introduces the HL7 Document Templates module which allows you to easily create "Templates" for creating robust, highly formatted human readable documents in a variety of formats (PDF, HTML, etc) from your HL7 messages. These templates can be used right in the HL7 Notepad software to produce "Ad-Hoc" documents or reports OR they can be exported for use with other "Publisher" software (like the UltraPort HL7 Postmaster and the soon-to-be-released UltraPort HL7 Document Engine) to create a fully automated solution which runs as a MS Windows Service.
05 May 2013. Version 1.6.2 released.
Version 1.6.2 is a maintenance and bug-fix release to maintain synchronization with our internal toolsets. A reported bug was fixed in the execution of Search and Transform operations involving HL7 repeating fields. Several new transformation macros were added and a reported bug was fixed regarding the RandomStreetName() macro not working.
29 March 2012. Version 1.3 released.
Version 1.3 is a maintenance release to maintain synchronization with our internal toolsets. The file format for the HL7 vendor definitions has changed, but conversion is done automatically. Also, a sporadic bug was fixed which would cause the final data element not to be displayed in the WYSIWYG editor when using the expanded HL7 display.
31 October 2011. Version 1.0 released
