Redistribution and Licensing

There are no run-time license fees for any applications developed with your registered copy of EasyHL7 under the terms and conditions set forth in the license agreement. Any applications or solutions created by you and deployed to other computers with the EasyHL7 components must include a Runtime license created by you and installed into the same folder as the EasyHL7 dll files. Certain features of the API require a Development license to function (primarily these are only those functions related to vendor definition editing). If your solution needs these features it will be necessary for the customer to purchase a Development License either from HermeTech or from you (see FAQ below).

You may NOT redistribute this help file or its contents, any of the sample code, applications or the EasyHL7.exe program in their original state. You may however, feel free to copy from these documents, or source code and make such modifications as necessary to 'brand' them as your own for redistribution.

3.	You may NOT use EasyHL7 components to produce a directly competitive product (eg., SimpleHL7). EasyHL7 is for you to design and deploy integration solutions, not re-badged componentware for other developers.

Q: I would like to integrate the definition editing features into my product, but these require a Development license, does the customer have to purchase an EasyHL7 Developers License from HermeTech?

A: Yes and No. Those methods that will not work without a Development license are primarily those methods that are needed to DEVELOP solutions to be deployed. As a company, we don't allow you for instance to use the EasyHL7 components to develop an identical system, call it ReallyEasyHL7 and sell it to our potential customers at a discount. That being said, when you purchase a Development license from HermeTech, you may purchase additional licenses at a substantial discount. As a registered customer, you are AUTOMATICALLY enrolled as an authorized reseller of EasyHL7 components. With permission from HermeTech (which may include a review of your application specs) you can purchase Development licenses from HermeTech at your 'Discount' rate (as if you were installing on another computer in your office) and resell that license to your customer. There are certain caveats to this. 1) The components must be sold as part of one or more solutions developed by your company, you may not just repackage the components and sell them as is (items 1,2 and 3 above remain in force). 2) Be aware of item 3 above. HermeTech customer support would not be available for your customer. There is a separate license agreement and all support and documentation must come from your company. 3) In your invoice to the customer, your charge for the license(s) must be a separate line item(s) and not bundled into other charges. 4) You may not charge your customer more than the current full retail price of a Development license from HermeTech.

Q: My application is a web-based HL7 System using ASP or ASP.NET, are there any special licensing fees for using the components in a web-based application?

A: No, there are no special or hidden license fees for using EasyHL7 components in a web-based system.

A: Product upgrades are free to registered customers, and can be redeployed by them according to the license agreement as they see fit.
