Postmaster Licenses

All licenses for HermeTech Products (with only 1 exception) are "Per Computer" virtual or otherwise. This means that every computer running the HermeTech Product must have a Product License installed which is valid for that computer. If installing on or moving a license to a virtual machine you must purchase a virtual machine license.

As of version 2.6 there are 11 types of licenses for the UltraPort HL7 Postmaster:

1.The Evaluation / Demo License.  A free license, good for 30 days it cannot be "renewed" and while active will provide functionality which is limited in some way. In the HL7 Postmaster, the Demo license is fully functional with the exception that you cannot install or run the MS Windows Services AND when Running your Postmasters "Locally" they will only run for 5 minutes at a time.

2.The Developer License. A reduced cost license, the Developer license is fully functional with only 1 limitation separating it from the Professional license. With the Developer license you can not install or run the UltraPort HL7 Postmaster MS Windows Services. You can only run your Postmasters "locally" in a run-time window. While this might seem like a serious inconvenience, it's really not. If you're developing an HL7 interface or testing an interface then this is really how you would want to run it anyway. See Running Postmasters.

3.The Developer License for VM. Same as #2 but for VM (Virtual Machines). The retail cost is US$25.00 more than #2.

4.The Professional License. This is the "full" license which you want to install in live or production environments. It is completely unrestricted and you can install and run the UltraPort HL7 Postmaster MS Windows Services. See Running Your Postmasters. IMPORTANT: The new HL7 Documents functionality introduced in version 2.5 is not available with the Professional license unless you also own a Distributor license.

5.The Professional License for VM. The same as #4 but for VM (Virtual Machines). The retail cost is US$50.00 more than #4.

6.The Enterprise License. The Enterprise license is an expanded version of the Professional license (#4). It allows you to use the HL7 Documents functionality and also activates the Distributor Features as well.

7.The Enterprise License for VM. The same as #6 but for VM (Virtual Machines). The retail cost is US$50.00 more than #6.

8.The Enterprise Developer License. The same functionality as the standard Developer License (#2) but it incorporates the Enterprise license properties as well and allows you to use the HL7 Documents functionality and also activates the Distributor Features as well.

9.The Enterprise Developer License for VM. Same as #8 but for VM (Virtual Machines). The retail cost is US$25.00 more than #8.

10. The "Short Term" License. ALL short term licenses are the functional equivalent of #7 (Enterprise License for VM). See Short Term Licenses.

11. The Distributor License. This license is the only exception to our "Per Computer" license policy. The Distributor license works differently from our other licenses, see below for details, for pricing information visit the HermeTech Website.

The Distributor License and How It Works

A Distributor license is a different type of license. You don't ever (in fact you can't) "install" or "activate" the Distributor license and you can only purchase or own 1 of them. Just owning the license is enough. Owning a Distributor License for the UltraPort HL7 Postmaster activates all of the Distributor Features on computers where you install your Developer and Professional licenses (purchased separately).

Customers who own Distributor licenses also have greatly expanded price discounts when purchasing Professional and Developer licenses for the UltraPort HL7 Postmaster in bulk. You'll also note from the graph below that if you own a Distributor license you don't need to purchase Enterprise licenses and can just purchase the lower cost Professional and Developer licenses. IE if you own a Distributor license a Professional license is functionally equivalent to an Enterprise license.
