Licenses

The EasyHL7 Mailbox Router has 2 licensing models, BASIC and PROFESSIONAL. To help you make the proper decision on which license you need, you must first understand HOW the mailbox router actually works. You use the mailbox router by creating mailbox profiles which contain TCP/IP connection information and the address of a folder on the file system which will contain HL7 ASCII data files. You can create as many of these profiles as you like. However, how often and how quickly those profiles are actually processed will depend on the type of LICENSE you purchase.

Router Runtime Engines

When the Mailbox Router runs, it will poll all of the message folders defined in your 'enabled' mailbox profiles for HL7 message files. If files are detected then the system will dynamically create a Mailbox Router Runtime Engine to service that profile. The Runtime Engine will then connect to the destination computer and transmit ALL HL7 messages in ALL HL7 Message Files which were present at the time it was created before disengaging (unless it's a static profile) to move on and process another profile.

If you purchase a BASIC license your system will only run 1 (ONE) router runtime engine.

If you purchase a PROFESSIONAL license your system will run 10 (TEN) router runtime engines concurrently.

So, as you might be able to imagine if you have many, many outbound connections OR speed is your absolutely greatest concern, you would want to purchase a Professional License. Make no mistake though, transmitting HL7 messages over TCP/IP is FAST. A single runtime engine, servicing 5 or 6 profiles could process up to 100-150,000 HL7 messages in a day easily. However, if those messages were spread out across 50-100 mailboxes, you would probably notice some delays as that single engine processed each profile sequentially.
